Comédien, metteur en scène et co-directeur d’Alambic’ – collectif artistique, Norman Barreau-Gély est un collectionneur passionné d’histoire et de chanson française.

Collaborateur de l’historien Martin Pénet pour l’écriture de livrets biographiques consacrés à Charles Trénet, Boris Vian, Johnny Hallyday ou Dalida (éditions BD jazz), il publie Femmes des années folles en 2022 puis France Gall - L'Intégrale en 2023 aux éditions E/P/A, et son travail sur les archives du salon artistique R-26 paraît dans l’ouvrage collectif Maison Sonia Delaunay (éditions Hatje Cantz/Kunstmuseen Krefeld).
